Laser Illuminators
We currently have 3 types of Infra Red [IR] laser illuminators available,
each designed with a specific purpose in mind.
We have applied our own ‘power rating’ system and the reason for this,
is that used together, it was found the manufacturers rating system was
obviously not uniform.
This has led to some confusion which needed to be removed. Even more
difficult
is direct comparison to LED illuminators. For example, a 100mw laser
has
3 to 4 times the brightness level of a similarly rated LED illuminator.
We recommend the use of an IR laser with the “add-on” systems.
As with all lasers, these are not ‘eye-safe’ so need to be used with care.
80mw Laser Illuminator
This is the most versatile unit in the group. It does not have the raw
power
of the other two units, but the illumination pattern is uniform, and
the focussing
head doesn’t need any tooling to change its direction.
It will move easily from one setup to another. It comes with our own mounting
system, though it can be scope mounted using an ordinary dovetail scope mount.
We
supply either of these depending on the customers stated preference.
This
unit is effective with the Gen I “add-on” system out to about 100 yards.
With a Gen II+ system it would be effective to a little over 200 yards.

100mw Laser Illuminator
This unit is rated at 200mw by the manufacturer,
and is the brightest we stock.
The illumination pattern is textured, and
this doesn’t
suit everyone.
It is the brightest we sell, and has a three position power
switch that will allow
quite modest brightness levels if required. This is
useful is watching something
closer than expected. There is also a focussing
lens on the front of the unit
that can be used to diffuse the beam even further.
This unit is effective with the Gen I “add-on” system out to about 200 yards.
With a Gen II+ system it would be effective to a little over 300 yards.
Price: £205
90mw Laser Illuminator
This unit, despite its price, is our best seller.
The illumination pattern is flat as with the 80mw laser, but this unit is
noticeably
more powerful. It is initially aimed by the use of internal windage
and elevation
screws adjusted with the supplied Allen key. There is also
a focussing lens on the
front of the unit that can be used to diffuse the
beam if required.
This unit is effective with the Gen I “add-on” system out
to about 200 yards.
With a Gen II+ system it would be effective to a little
over 300 yards.
